According to the diagrams I've seen people argue til they were blue in the face that the headunit powered ALL tweeters, and even the hatch woofers I guess there was some truth to the Houston F-Body Monsoon layout afterall Tweeters are powerd from the HU as well as the rear speakers.
Come to think of it. This is a diagram for Camaro monsoons. I still think it's amazing how such a small amp can have so much power I guess it's a d-class? Originally Posted by ScrapMaker. If the monsoon amp took the line level signal and converted them, the highs should have stayed at simular volume with the stock or aftermarket hu and isn't the case.
Also, I have seen many many posts from people that have said the diagrams floating around are not correct. Then under the area were it shows the wire for steering wheel controls it says for pontiac only blue wire. Is this a official GM diagram, because if it is, they sure did a bad job checking over it and there is some wrong info on it for sure the blue wire. Last edited by rotwiler; at PM. I'd like to upgrade the radio to a single CD with iPod input, however, I don't want to "downgrade" the sound quality if Monsoon is really high quality.

This had better power, or at least seemed to, but still not great. This winter I will go aftermarket with a head unit that has a USB port and some power. This has been discussed lots of times in the "upgrades" forum and many have had some excellant installations. Read up for lots of suggestions.

Ipod input question By squeals99 in forum Stereo and Electronics.Difference Between Monsoon and Stock Radio.
Would like to know the differences between the Monsoon and stock radio. I know there is a "Mid" level button on the Monsoon, but is there an external amp? I am thinking about buying a Monsoon, was wondering if I can just remove the stock radio and plug the Monsoon in it's place, will this work or are there other pieces to the Monsoon system that I will need?
The Monsoon system uses a Watt external amp that supposedly provides discrete amplification to all 8 speakers. Si I gather I will need this W amp also. Does anybody know if my car would be wired up to adapt this Monsoon system, i. Look in that left rear compartment where the CD-changer goes. If you see the connectors, then it is wired. The amp mounts below the CD-changer in your Golf.entrada auxiliar para un auto estéreo antiguo / reciclar un auto estereo
Is this possible in the Beetle? I know the Beetle has six speakers as to 8 on the others. If so, where is the amp located? Looked in the rear compartment a few minutes ago. Saw a notched area where I think the amp would fit, had 2 screw holes through that gray carboard covering stuff into the sheet metal. Is this where the amp is supposed to mount? Bad news was I saw no other wires other than the square connector for the CD Changer.
Does this mean I am not Monsoon adaptable? I saw 2 or 3 open connections on each tailight assy, plug in style, no wires. Ruff, do you have your heart set on the Monsoon? If not, there are better bang-for-your-buck audio upgrades. I've said it before and I'll say it again It sucks. Put it in a closet where it belongs. You'll see a huge difference in sound quality with a good aftermarket cd deck.
These will provide a huge leap in sound quality, more than I notice between Monsoon and non-Monsoon VW's. Find More Posts by [the unit]. I figured it was a simple one-for-one swap and I would do it if I could win the radio auction for such a cheap price. Otherwise, I will just stick with what I've got. I am happy with the stock system. I like the simple plug and play capability of the OEM stuff, which is why I am looking at the Monsoon upgrage, but I'm still not sure it will work in my car if I don't have the wiring.
Keep looking. You have to have the wiring. I doubt VW is different from other manufacturers.
